The 2008 competition was the first to be run under the new moniker of the Christian Developers Network. It had an increased participation of 16 completed submissions. This competition ran from August 1st to August 17th, 2008.

Changes
Several new things were attempted with this year's speedgame contest. Most notably, we revamped the judging system. We dropped the old 5-category system (Christian Teaching, Fun, Original, Graphics, and Best Build) in favor of a 4-category system. The new categories are:
- Xian - Presentation of Christian Content (is it done well? Judge on things like clarity, continuity, applicability, and how well it "fits" with the context, and the quality of any writing)
- Fun - Fun-ness (is the game easy to pick up and fun to play? Judge on things like learning curve, engagement, excitement, and replayability)
- Creat - Creativity / Innovation (Is the author creative and expressive in his design and implementation? Does the game advance the art of Christian-based games? Does it break new ground, or breathe new life into old ideas? Judge on how well you feel the author pushed and stretched and experimented with the boundaries of what Christian-based gaming can be.)
- Pol - Polish on the look/feel (how good does the game look and feel? Judge on things like graphics, sound, continuity, consistency, intuitive menus, game stability, etc)
The intention was to make judging simpler, while putting stronger emphasis on the sorts of things we want to see in games. For example, the change from "Graphics" to "Polish" -- the look-and-feel of the game is defined in more than just the quality of the artwork, but has larger scope in that it's affected by having a consistent user interface, smooth transitions, music and sound, etc. As such, we wanted to be able to give credit to games that excelled in this area, and so modified the categories to more accurately apply to what we wanted to judge for.
