EverRoad
From WorkCDN
This game concept came through discussion with a friend of mine. I thought it'd be cool to make a horror RPG from the perspective of the monsters. So, no, this isn't a christian game, and yes, some christians might not like it. Anyhow, with the two of us brainstorming, this is what we wrought.

Lore
There is a road called EverRoad, that runs straight and far, further than any man has ever known. Down the EverRoad, there is a dark forest haunted by strange creatures, no man dares venture into it. All cities and towns are built around this road, but yet not one single person has ever been to it's end and back. But there is a legend: Long ago, in the ancient days, five great houses ruled the land. From where these houses began, nobody truly knows, but as far as we know, these five houses always existed around an ancient fountain, which became the center of a sprawling city. The city became the pinnacle of civilization, and so the EverRoad was constructed to bring all the people to it. The city knew no end to it's prosperity. The five families of the five houses had everything, wealth, power and fame, but there was one more thing they lusted for: immortality. Each family spent all their resources and magics finding the secret to eternal life. Each family looked under different magics and followed their own paths. Finally, after generations of seeking, the houses began having breakthroughs, first one house, than the other, till all five found their secrets to immortality, but it would be their undoing. Their magic began shaping them, twisting their forms and corrupting their souls. It became unbearable for the people, and the high priests came together and with all their might banished the five houses to another world.
The story begins with one man, seeking adventure, decides to go to the end of EverRoad. After a long, treacherous journey, he finally reaches an ancient fountain, no longer running, but filled with water. Surrounding it are five ruins of ancient mansions. Naturally, as most young do, he begins to explore the houses. All is quiet, surreally quiet, actually. As he looks around, he sees a mirror. At first, he sees a dark face but on second glance, only back to his own. Something is not right about this place. As he goes back, he hears a pitter patter and spots a little girl, dressed in white, running down the hall. Was she lost? He runs after her to find. A giggle echoes through the halls. What is this place? Another flash of white, the girl runs down another hall, now the young man most find out what's going on. Finally, after much searching he sees the young girl outside, dancing and walking on the edge of the fountain. He walks towards it. The child looks at him with dead eyes and giggles once more. Something's not right. As he nears, she suddenly falls into fountain and he runs toward it to pull her out. The waters are dark, so he reaches his hand in. Something grabs his hand, it's bony and cold. Looking into the water, he sees the face again, the Guardian. It pulls him into the fountain and feels himself rushing through darkness, space and time. When he comes to, he's standing a dark, bustling city, with the four mansions, no longer ruins, but larger, grander and occupied. Around him, creatures of all sorts, undead all of them. He has found the end of EverRoad.
the Houses
The player gets to choose which house he will become affiliated.
Vampires
This house sought immortality through magic of the bat/blood. They are vampires in most conventional senses. Probably the most lavish of houses, with a rennissance theme. A vampire of great power is known to cast darkness in face of light, disappear into a mist of bats and drain the energy of the strongest of beings. Theme: Renaissance
Lycans
They sought immortality through the magic of the wolf/moon and have become Werewolves. Most austere, with a medieval castle theme. Lycans are the strongest of all the houses, and value courage and strength above all. Theme: Medieval
Spectres
Ghosts and spirits, banshees and wraiths. This house has cast itself out of the material world. Both powerful magic casters, but also very susceptible to it's influence. Theme:
Necrolytes
In all basic terms: zombies. The lowest ranks of this house serve as the common mindless zombie hoarde, but those that are able to survive can become much more powerful beings, from a skeleton warrior, (yes, gotta include the mummy as well), to a fearsome Lich. Theme: Steampunk
