This is a CDN Forum game, I've been wanting to do one for a while and I really like this idea.

Overview

Frightful Weather is a forum game based on the CDN thread, "Oh the weather outside is frightful." It aims for most of the chaos, and all of the fun of the original, but slightly less unfair. Clinton, you're doomed. In order to achieve this, simplicity is key. Simplicity means having a Rock-Paper-Scissors system. Oldest, and easiest system in the book.

This in mind, I decided upon an Attack-Defense-Resources system. You can't make powerful attacks without resources, you can't have resources if you can't hold them without defense, and if you don't attack you'll fall too far behind to keep up with defense. To bring it to its most simple form I'll present the objective...

  • Take everyone's land.

Furthermore, I shall explain my reasoning for each additional element. Something that adds to the uniqueness of the character is his or her special weapon(s). These I would not want to miss for fear of missing the spirit of the original without them. I also add Energy as a way of slowing down high-frequency posters, and yet rewarding frequent posting

Statistics

As I mentioned earlier, a three tier system is used, this allows for maximum flexibility and simplicity.

Resources

Resources are what fuels any invasion or defense: without them, you lose. How this works is it simulates a constant snowfall. Every (real-time) hour an amount of snow equal to your land is added to you.

Statistics

  • For every 1 land, add 1 snow every hour.

Defense

A good defense will keep your resources safe and keep you from dying. However, these resources are used up faster than for attacking.

Statistics

  • For every 1 defense, subtract 2 snow.

Attack

In the spirit of the original game, attack is based on weapons. This also puts a very light comeback system into play meaning that players who are currently losing can come back.

With the exception of a few attacks, with every attack you gain one land regardless of the attack.

Energy

<p>Energy puts a valve on the high posting players and yet rewards them. This way instead of having the possibility of 30 turns per hour, it can be limited to 5. For every post, energy is reduced by 1. Double posts are prohibited.

Weapons

Normal Weapons

Normal Weapons are distributed to everyone, anyone can use them and reap their benefits.

Snowball

Well formed but quick, it's nice to have around.

  • Attack: 2
    • Since its attack is a paltry 2, the only thing it will defeat is a near-undefended base.
  • Snow: 1

Iceball

These boys HURT! They're heavy too.

  • Attack: 3
  • Snow: 2
  • Special: Subtract defense from attack, and you'll see how much land you get... They hurt and are hard.

Icicle

I've never been hit by one, and that's why I'm still here.

  • Attack: 5
  • Snow: 4

Ice Pick

Not really made out of snow, so it doesn't really count... Hey! It's destructive!

  • Attack: 0
  • Snow: 2
  • Special: You can't steal any land, but you can take away one defense! This is a balance for super-high defense people.

Special Weapons

Ice Saber

An eloquent weapon, for a more frozen age.

  • Attack: 4
  • Snow: 4
  • Special: Disables enemy weapons for one post.

Clinton

  • Attack: 0
  • Snow: 5
  • Special: Takes away two defense.

Iron Chain

  • Attack: 2
  • Snow: 4
  • Special: Takes away one defense.
